What Goes In To Our Brick
Careful evaluation goes into any prospective materials that might be used in composing our green brick. Many potential waste stream products have been reviewed, but few meet all Green Leaf Brick criteria. To be considered for composition of a Green Leaf Brick, materials need to have close proximity, be readily available, possess excellent ceramic properties, meet our safety in handling criteria, while contributing to our aesthetic focus.

Recycled Materials
Many recycled or byproduct materials are available for consideration. All the materials used in Green Leaf Brick have positive impacts on the environment. Some are truly recycled and rescued from landfills.

Other materials are virgin ceramic scrap and refuse that is taken directly from the manufacturer to the brick maker. Mineral byproducts and accessory mine minerals are also used. This means that no new lands are being mined by taking advantage of these readily available materials. Other materials are truly recycled but are already being provided by other firms, such as recycled glass and iron oxide extracted as byproducts. No new materials are manufactured or produced, and no new lands are mined to produce Green Leaf Brick. Culled brick are reground and reintroduced back into the ceramic body.

Green Leaf Brick are the ultimate in quality, appearance, and green appeal, and the best choice for green builders and architects.
Availability of the selected materials is important for long term viability. Some materials are dismissed because a long term supply is not readily available. Some smaller components of the brick can be interchangeable, but for the most part, consistent supply of materials is expected with all of the materials Green Leaf Brick uses.
To make a high quality brick, quality ceramic raw materials must be used. Some materials that were evaluated may be very green, but will reduce the quality of the brick. Flyash for example is readily available but does not contribute positive qualities to our composition. Other materials can only be used in small quantities. Some materials are more plastic and help with forming, while others tend to melt and help with the fired properties of the brick. Finding the proper blend of materials to make the highest quality brick that also has the biggest aggregate environmental impact has been our ultimate goal.
No toxic materials are used in Green Leaf Brick. This ensures safety during manufacturing, and results in a safe finished product. Green Leaf Brick are practically inert, and just as safe and strong as any commercially available brick.
Green Leaf Brick has proven that you don't have to sacrifice the appearance of the brick and the building to be environmentally sensitive. All of the colorants and any coatings are engineered with the same environmental impact focus as our brick body composition. Our versatile, custom production process allows Green Leaf Brick to produce most any size, shape, color, texture and personalized monogram desired.
